The
Summerhouse at Suttons Manor,
Stapleford Tawney, Essex.
This page serves as a link to my description and analysis report on a timber-framed Georgian summerhouse in the grounds of Suttons Manor. It may be that it was one of the last designs of the architect Joseph Bonomi the Elder who designed the Orangery at Suttons in 1796.
The report notes that one of the original panels is dated 1806 in pencil on the reverse together with some cursive script which at the time was unreadable due to the condition of the wet timbers.
Joseph Bonomi was one of England's foremost Georgian architects even earning a mention in Jane Austen's Sense and Sensibility. He died in 1808.
The report is presented as a low resolution .pdf and has 26 illustrated pages.
