Talks & Tours.
Specialised subjects in local history.

One of my favourite places is Cressing Temple in Essex near where I live.
I first started working there in 1987 and I worked on excavations from 1991 to 1996. After that whilst working in the Historic Buildings Section of Essex County Council I designed and built several exhibitions there.

I regularly give talks and tours on this fine scheduled monument, its history, archaeology and folklore. Recently I have given talks on the Life of an Archaeologist, the History and Mystery of the Knights Templar, Historic Ironwork Repairs in Timber-framed Buildings, Decay Testing of Timbers and Dowsing for Archaeology. I am also interested (somewhat sceptically) in the paranormal and I give talks (and tours) on the hauntings of Cressing Temple.

I have given talks to a huge cross-section of groups including The Historical Fellowship, the Rotary Club, University of the Third Age, National Farmers Union, Hedingham History Society, Notley Club 55 and many more.

The most famous person I have given a tour to is HRH Prince Charles when he visited Cressing Temple in 1991 and again in 2004 when I was astounded that he remembered me.

I am always interested in new subjects. I am a keen motorcyclist (BMW K75) so a historical motorcycling tour around Essex would really appeal.

If you are interested in a talk or organised tour please e-mail me with your requirements.
